My name is Mathias Braasch, living close to Munich now, but originally from Schleswig-Holstein in the very North of Germany. Thanks for visiting my profile and for Your pictures here as well as Your comments and messages. The german nickname "Sterntaucher" is the name of a bird from Scandinavia. The "Sterntaucher" comes to Central-Europe in winter only, when lakes in Scandinavia and the Baltic Sea are frozen or maybe when the birds think it's time for better weather. During this period the birds wear a coat which looks like a black sky with many white stars. That's the reason for the german name (Danish: "Rødstrubet Lom" or English: "Redthroated Diver"). Find it out. But this name can mean much more. Think about it!
