that's great photo I Like it

Greetings from Indonesia Jimmie Sinarta

For scale, you can see my son standing at the far left on the banks of the pond.

Shortly after rounding the mouth of Grapevine a fierce thunderstorm struck from the west. After 15 minutes of cold, intense rain, it very suddenly stopped and this rainbow was left in its wake.

After a rather rough and wet climb-down from the Horseshoe Mesa, the Tonto trail crossed Cottonwood Canyon. Before rounding the mouth of the canyon, I took this picture of the Mesa; the closer, eastern arm of the "horseshoe" is on the right and the western arm is on the left. The picture was taken toward the southwest.

People tend to watch the sunrises in hushed reverence along the rim. Its beautiful-- even the clouds couldn't get in the way this day. the lights of the El Tovar Hotel are on the right of the picture.

Of interest, the current Google Earth base image shows a mule train arriving at the corral about 50 meters southwest of the overlook. The digital terrain model used for the 3d view is very impressive, but has a slight flaw here. The overlook is a relatively flat outcroping of rock that is virtually co-altitude with the corral; but in the 3d view it looks like its falling into the River!

This is at the bottom of the South Kaibab trail; on the left side of the pictures are hikers headed down the final switchbacks; in the center, the yellow boats of a river party taking a rest; and on the right is the Black Bridge.
