This lake is not named after a car manufactured by a European subsidiary of GMC (Opel). It is named after a semiprecious stone of amorphous silica known as Opal. Spelling matters.

There are 2 very large falls further upstream on Coal Creek. The biggest one is about 500 yards above where this photo was taken.
