Mathias_Schroeder's conversations

I've been visited this shop.

Hej! We are helping a child in this part of Afghanistan, and was looking on google earth, and we wonder what the large square shaped area just east of this picture is. We liked your photos from this area. Best regards Magnus A Sweden

Hello Wendy,

Sorry, I accidentally deleted your message on my page.

Yes, you are right, Afghanistan is really an impressive country. There are countless historical sites which are not documented yet. But, travelling in Afghanistan is very dangerous at the moment. Since 2006 the security situation has drastically got worse again. You need very good knowledge of the local specific features, as well as respectable contacts with locals to travel reasonably safely there.

Very well composed - a satisfying essay of the place.

Hi- this is a Nice picture all the best

'At that time the king (Ninos), having completed the founding of the city which bore his name, attempted to march against the Bactrians. Knowing the great numbers and valour of these men, in addition to the the country having many places unapproachable because of the defensive terrain, he summoned from all the subjugated countries a great number of soldiers; for as he failed in his previous expendition, hurriedly assembled a force many times greater than that of the Bactrian country. The assembled army from everywhere was numbered, as Ctesias wrote in the histories, one million seven hundred thousand soldiers, two hundred and ten thousand cavalry, and a little less that ten thousand six hundred scythe-bearing chariots.' From Diodoros' of Sicily Library of History. Book 2:5(3-4).
