Locally known as the "City Float" and the first community boat harbor in Ketchikan. It is one of three within the city limits and one of five in the Ketchikan area.
2 and 3 story concrete block construction homes can hardly be referred to as shanties. On such a mountainous island, where flat land is limited and where annual hurrican seasons can threaten most structures, this photo reveals the Dominican Builder's abilities to produce comfortable and safe housing in very difficult terrain.
Just in response, I know about the snow in Arizona. The caption to my photo only refers to that week in June in AZ. I would suggest that the snow up on Humphrey was it for that week.
Dear Jeremy, these are not volcanic beaches. Those formations are sndstone strata, you can prove that by breaking a piece of one of the shelf and observing the cemented sand grains.
Although the whole area has been influenced by volcanic events, the reefs along this beach are all formed by sand. The hardened sand has been sequencially covered with uncemented aeolian sand. Given the sand shelfs in diffenet stratigraphic positions, it is likely a recurrent process of sedimentation.
JeremyStone's conversations
