Hi Jobo. It's the bit of land that runs from Brownhill Roundabout towards town on Whalley New Road, Fern Bank is on your right as you go towards Blackburn. It goes about as far as Emerald Avenue. This photo is looking back to the roundabout with the Blackburn to Clitheroe railway line on the left. There aren't many ferns on it now.
A dank and dangerous place in snow/mist. I found an flint arrowhead here in the late 70s - proof of neolithic hunting, when all this area was scrub or forested?
