This Canada Goose nested on the pathway of a very busy public park. There are people and dogs walking past all the time. She just sat there until the eggs were hatched.

Male Goldfinch are the ones that look after the young in the Goldfinch family. We saw this bright yellow male feeding a group of five young goldfinch. At the same time, they are learning where to find the best spots for food. They cetainly did pay attention to him. Amazing, how birds can keep their families all together and attentive.

Sardis Park in Chilliwack was full of ducklings and goslings in May. Just about everywhere you looked.

We heard that the Lazuli Bunting was sighted around the end of the Lickman Road Dyke in Chilliwack, so on our way to the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve for our regular walk we stopped at the end of the dyke. No Bunting, but we did see a young Pileated Woodpecker with an adult teaching it how to find insects. When we got to the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve, there was the Lazuli Bunting sitting at the entrance waiting for us.

We've seen these two and the Doe this month (August 2007) a few times. They are so active and playful; easy to see too.
