Maybe "vagmarken" is from the swedish word "vägmärken". Google is translating this into German with "Verkehrszeichen", what means "traffic signs" or "road signs". But all this is pure speculation. It would be nice for this picture ;o).

Joshua Tree is the name of the National Park, which is named for the plant. The rock is called Trash Can Rock and is famous among rock climbers in the park.
