The rest of the story. This Saudia L1011 aircraft was photographed at Riyahd Airport north of Riyahd, SA. Several years before, the aircraft was returning visiting Muslims to their homes in Pakistan after an annual visit to Mecca. At least one family on the aircraft started up a small charcoal-fed cooking device during taxi and soon it was out of control. The flight crew quickly stopped the taxi but the fire spread quickly. Unfortunately, the crew did not realize that they had not released the cabin pressure during the attempted emergency exit procedure. That delayed the opening of the emergency exit and people died before they could exit the aircraft. Firefighting equipment did not arrive soon enough to render aid, and the aircraft cabin burned up. (You can see the top of the cabin fully melted away). Over the years Saudia (Air) would come over to the aircraft and cannibalize parts off it, beginning with the engines which were in perfect operating order. Eventually, Saudia towed the aircraft further away (out of sight) and then tore up up, salvaging and recycling the metals.
