This tree could be the same age as the Reformer's Tree near Speaker's Corner in Marble Arch. Though the tree is no longer there, the spot is clearly defined and a convergence point of numerous footpaths at the bottom of the playing fields.

It's a church...

I was on a day trip when a heavy shower started. I quickly clicked the camera and it was not until I got home I realised how everyone had run for cover, leaving Trafalgar Square nearly empty.
