I am a Dutch biologist who is currently living in Noord Brabant, the Netherlands, who has never, and will never be persuaded to get a Google+ account. I’ve been seriously wasting time on photography since 2004 and I love to travel around and take pictures of all the beautiful sites I see. These photographs have found their way to a number of places on the internet such as Wikimedia and the Belgian site Erf-goed.be. I periodically upload relevant photographs to this site in the hope that they will serve some use in helping visitors learn a little more about the incredibly rich architectural/cultural heritage of the Netherlands, as well as all the places I visit during my travels. I also occasionally show interesting examples of threatened architectural heritage in Flanders before they perish.

Actually the fortress is built on a slope, and its much taller on the other side. I've only seen the fortifications around Portsmouth from some distance, when visiting Portchester Castle. But I can see where you got the idea from :)

Erg mooie compositie. Ook mooi de reflectie. L. groet, Ada

Dank Ada :) Het is een stevige klim omhoog naar het fort, maar het uitzicht is een prima beloning

Jurek, thank you for your nice comment and L+F. Greetings, Ada

Fabrizio, thank you. I appreciate your nice comment and Like. Best regards, Ada

Thanks for the comments. I've added some descriptions to the photographs you commented on. I'll see if I can keep it up for future uploads to the fortifications group.

I like this photograph anything else left of the rest of the city defences
