My brother put that cross up in 97 when one of his best friends (Eugene Rosario, 16) fell off the top of the mountain. I went with him, along with a few more of Eugenes friends, and he carried that cross and stormed up that mountain in pure grief, accepting no help. I remember someone died on that mountain about every couple of years, but none since Lars put that cross up. Unfortunately, Eugenes death started a depression in my little bro that he never recovered from, until he took his own life in 2003. When I saw that picture of the cross, it brought back a lot of memories. I only know it's still up there because you can see it shine from the road when the sun is right. The picture reminds me of the day we packed rocks around it and others helped. I think it has saved lives because people are reminded of the danger while climbing. Thank you for the photo.
