a part of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn´s "prussian nights" the poem describes the Red Army's march across Germany (East Prussia), and focuses on the traumatic acts of rape and murder that Solzhenitsyn witnessed as a participant in that march.

so this memorial is a symbol of soviet shame
