xpagola's conversations
The white building over the track is the original 1902 Cannon street signal box. It still operates with oil burning lamps and cable pulls. The brass handles are operated with cloths to stop tarnishing and bells still sound when an oil lamp is low on fuel.
The signalman still wears slippers to stop bringing water in on shoes that would rot the wooden floor. What a world class railway we have :)

But not the original Upper Red ! This was built behind the old Upper red just before WWII, and when complete the old pub was demolished. A little further down the street towards the Bay you can see the building that was the Lower Red Lion. Not bad, three pubs with spitting distance of each other !

The building on the left was originally the Village Butcher and is now a micropub.
