that looks like a tree on green island,u sure it's fitzroy?

Very nice shot. But to clarify, the mountains in the distance are the Cuillin of Rum, not the Skye Cuillin. I enjoyed this same view in late September 2012.

Hi Matthew. Where was this taken?

FitzRoy Island; named for the captain of Darwin's vessel 'Beagle'. See

Love this shot, taken really well, isn't this place just breath taking. Whitsundays is my favourite Australian holiday place.

Wow, that's incredible! I'm going to be visiting Death Valley with my partner soon. We'll be travelling from Death Valley NP to Santa Barbara and , looking at your photos, I was wondering if it would be worth finding somewhere to stay in Trona or Westend. Where exactly do you have to go to see these amazing pinacles?

Any advice you could give would be much appreciated!

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the feedback. Its a pretty awesome view! We enyjoyed Hook Island Resort, though we stayed there a few years back, so it may have changed. The resort is a bit delapidated and not flash, but very friendly and not too many $$$. I guess camping would be fine, and you can hire snorkell gear and get fod / drink @ the bar - only 50M away. Snorkelling in "the passage" (East) could be iffy, as the current is very fast. However, the bay just to the North is only 5 mins walk and very calm. I am sure U can see better coarl and fish other places, but we saw lots of fish at that spot and enjoyed it. Note that the island is very rugged and densly forrested, so access to other parts of the island is pretty limited, so options to go other places to snorkell may be limited. If you do go, make sure U do a day trip to Whitsunday Beach - its magnificent! Have fun....Anthony

hi Matthew oktober is a nice period to go there , you can still see the mother and calf whales swim by the islands we did stay on the planton island , the small one on the right side of molle island it is just beautiful out there , i'm sure you will have a good time over there ps : if you would like to take seakayaks with you and wan't to make a trip there is a verry strong current between the islands , make sure you don't come back when this is at it's strongest !! have a nice trip and enjoy !!!!
