The house was originally built ca.1693, and enlarged in ca.1710.

The Manor House was formerly home to the Eden family, and later to the Monk's (owners of the former West Auckland Brewery). The pant (drinking fountain) commemorates Queen Victoria's jubilee, but was adapted for this purpose from an earlier structure.
