welcome in 2013, cinza :)
It is a nice spot! Even a rowing club already exists.
Btw... they also can give a nice blue hour
Truly interesting architecture and use of wood. Lots of stilts up in this area by the hospital so I guess the river floods in this area frequently. With tropical termites I'm almost surprised there is not more of a problem. I've always been fascinated by little critters in Brasil that bored through both thick wood and family books with precise, tiny and very straight holes. One old family book around 8cm thick shows dozens of tiny spots of light and I once stuck a straight wire completely through one.
...that sounds like much cultural fun. We have had nothing this year: neither a "sylvester concert" on 12/31 nor a "new years concert". Our cultural year will start some time later... maybe something like that.
The Congress was watching its compromise from that tower when the weather was like that? ;)
... have a great new year, Cinza :)
Thanks, Cinza! Best wishes and happyn 2013! André.
View from the Basilica entrance on a foggy and rainy Christmas Eve as the music program begins.
Thanks Cinza for your comments.
That memorial is straight across and up City Dock.
Yes, only building materials, appliances, lamps, tools and such. Has some of the interest of a building material antique store too. There is a lumber section with wood in the old full inch cuts dating from the 1890s and early 1900s. Good place to find things for restoring period houses. Some relatively modern stuff as well.
