Rob Davis TELFORD's conversations
A stop here on the 2009 Motorcycle Adventure, to salute the Great-Uncle of one of our party, killed during the last months of the 1914-18 war. A poignant moment indeed.

Grave of the second teenage victim of evil murderer Colin Pitchfork, killed July 1986. I don't much care what this monster has achieved in prison by way of rehabilitation. What was required was an appointment with whoever should have succeeded Albert Pierrepoint.

We stayed for our holiday in the nearby Eastcott Lodges, last year. See my other picture on: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/11597928

The coffee and snacks were good, even if the lottery tickets didn't win anything.

Gold Plated No.1 Prize for Rip-Off! Charged us €10 per tent despite one mangy toilet and washbasin to service the entire camping/campervan site. The farm may have made its own cider but at €15 a bottle - would you? Whilst the green area was Ok for camping, the site's only saving grace was the shower, a hardboard-partitioned area of surprising size and unlimited lashings of hot water. All the same, if you're camping on the Omaha Beach trail, pass by this site as there must be far better value for your Euros.
However, the local village shop opposite the church did provide us with a delightful breakfast of coffee, local bread, butter and very tasty apple jam. And THEY didn't rip us off, even if the campsite owners did.

Campsite LA VILLE HUCHET a few miles south of St Malo. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Excellent throughout, easily the best on this year's trip. Very well equipped with a most obliging and helpful owner who did far more than he had to when we arrived late in the evening and later was helpful beyond words when one of our party fell ill.

Captured by US forces on June 6th 1944, this German bunker became a US command bunker.

A delightful campsite at 2 o'clock to Rennes and just inside the outer ring road. Very good showers and toilets, clean, and bustling with rabbits! Recommended. May 20th 2009. Next stop, Brest.

We rolled up here a little early for lunch but the very pleasant proprietress arranged some excellent steaks for us, evidently local produce. We're just sorry that we couldn't have more than a taste of the equally excellent local wine. But the motorcycles and the road were calling ... next stop, Rennes. Wednesday May 20, 2009.
