This is where I l post photos of parts of the UK,mainly of the East Midlands of England where I live and work. There are some historic and occasionally important structures. In amongst the Churches, pubs, other interesting buildings and landscapes for GE there is the occasional different photograph. Others can be found at.... ♫Russ Hamer on flickr... I have a flooring shop in Derby... Carpet Square... you are welcome to visit. In fact you could run it whilst I go out and take advantage of the light I am missing stuck there!!!

Yet another bites the dust, victim of the credit crunch and supermarkets, anti smoking laws and tv culture. Soon we will all sit at home watching manufactured "artistes" on x factor while eating and drinking delivered in food and drink. And, of course, reminiscing about the local pub. I recognise the cycle now; first the cheap meals, then the big banners advertising Sky sports (enough to put most passing trade off), then the "Run This Pub" signs. Then gone, or at least, sometimes, the structure saved by being converted to flats or a Tesco Express!

Beautiful ...

greetings from Iran

What a wonderful photograph. Mallard Ducks are obviously more energetic in the UK than they are here in Canada. I have been photographing them now for several years and the most energetic thing I have seen them do is give me a hard look if I get too close.

László, joyfotos, Lisa and Gabe thank you all VERY much!!!!

Best greetings from Finland! Ritva :D

This scarecrow works very well. As evidenced by the lack of crows. Would have liked to get closer but the ruddy thing scared me too!

Brian ,Thanks for your vote in the NPC. I took quite a few photos that day and this is one of my favourites. (I've already used it in a few of the games, so I will probably leave it alone for a while). Just about to prepare my bacon sandwich :-( Regards Geoff

Old English Holly Bush Inn in full bloom. Recently many pubs seem to be going to the wall. Not this one any time soon I think! Busiest I have visited for a good while... and not surprising, an excellent meal, good ale and helpful quick service despite the pressure.

I agree Hans it is strange...

I like the rear of this building as much as I do the front. Have been waiting well over a year now for the ugly fence (just behind and to the right of me here) to be removed or replaced and the area properly landscaped. Not sure its going to happen whilst it remains a fairly cheap place for cars to park safe away from the draconian traffic wardens; the foot warriors of a council determined to rid the city centre of motor vehicles and, with them, the economy boosting shoppers they carry into the struggling traders there. Did I say that out loud?

The biggest Methodist Church I have ever seen! This is the smallest
