This is where I l post photos of parts of the UK,mainly of the East Midlands of England where I live and work. There are some historic and occasionally important structures. In amongst the Churches, pubs, other interesting buildings and landscapes for GE there is the occasional different photograph. Others can be found at.... ♫Russ Hamer on flickr... I have a flooring shop in Derby... Carpet Square... you are welcome to visit. In fact you could run it whilst I go out and take advantage of the light I am missing stuck there!!!

Used to be "my pub" 40 years ago. Looking forward to paying it a visit in July 2014

Hi Russ - It is not a siren. It is a power transformer! Probably 10-15kVA 3.3kV step-down to 230V.

Just magical. The kind of shot most of us dream of taking.

I remember the tree very well I used to go past it many times on my Bsa when I lived in willington. The tree is mentioned in the magna carter.

Ja, den Film habe ich kürzlich auch wieder gesehen ... ich denke mal, der (vermutlich ungeschützte) Name wird sehr missbraucht.

LG, Erhard

looks like a graveyard to me....

So many shots in folders still to process Peter it may well surface yet :))

The Old Town House clock tower, with a Market Cross in front of it on the street corner

Update... 1886. Polygonal red brick gazebo with ribbed pyramidal slate roof which has centre wooden cupola. Gothic arched light in each face and door. Stands on garden wall. Listing NGR: SK7483419396

Thank you Corey. I loved the colours and drove hard and fast to get to that position. Technically I'm pleased with it because I was around three miles away on the verge of a busy road without a tripod or auto focus. Otherwise its a touch flat and not particularly sharp. Nevertheless "Awesome" .... certainly not! I cannot accept such a superlative. I feel "Awesome" is better reserved for the end of the world, a descending host of angels or witnessing the face of your God. "Very Awesome"... beyond the boggling capabilities of my little mind. But thanks, again, anyway.
