This picture of Airfield could be Minh Long, but your map is wrong of localtion...This location is Gia Vuc Town It is far from Ba To Town about 25km and Minh Long Town about 50km...
I arrived at Da Nang in April 1965 with VMFA-531. A chopper squadron at that time was located near the southwest end of the single runway. Our hangar was on the east side about 1/3 the length of the runway from south to north.
An Air Force Hanger with the Canberra B-47s was just north of us. I remember the powder charges going off to start the ram jet engines. It scared the hell out of us the first time we heard it.
WM; that's the Tail number Prefix, that my Squadron's Aircraft had painted on them! I was attached to the 310th ACS, in 1967~1968, at Phan Rang AB
I was there in October 1970. We brought in the replacement bridge after our engineer accidently destroyed the bridge trying to remove a log jam. I can see the old bridge in the river and the new one installed but you say the date of this photo is 68/69. Was the bridge destroyed twice? I served with 5th group during 1970. I am not sure exactly when this was taken, but I was assinged to this water point in the late summer of 1967 as part of the 19th Engineers. We stayed until the river flooded. Then we moved to LZ English for several months. In the spring of 1968 we moved back to a location across the river from this.
