dy_gfd's conversations

I'm so glad to know it! this photo was taken by my mother, an Argentinian, in the summer of 1954. It was a time when there still were huge dumps of rubble around in bombarded plots in Bremen and she also had the chance to meet some charming German people. Another universe, a time that has thankfully given place to a new era I hope!

Taken from the roof terrace of a friend's storey bulding around 1996. This kind of rooftop houses are quite common in Bs As but they remain almost secret to street passers-by. They are usually lovely!

Taken by Pelayo G y G.

This photo was taken in 1993 from the Cabezo de las Viñas hill; in the background the mountain chain of Sierra de la Madroñosa can be seen with its most important hilltops El Mallar and La Atalaya. The hill at the right of the village is the Cabezo de Coy. The largest part of the plain in the middleground belonged to the Finca de los Casalduero.

This map was hanged in the corridor of a charming old "Rose and Crown" pub. It was stirring to see this charting of all the bombs that hit this area during WW II, down to the smallest place or house with notes on the number of casualties in each (seen in 2003).

Thank you! my mother took this photo with a Leika camera that was then a state-of-the-art thing. Pity she sold it a couple of years afterwards. I've been told that the windmill still exists and there is a restaurant there.

No, sorry, it's not the Bahnhof (railway station). It is a museum near the main station, named "Übersee-Museum". Greetings from Bremen

Tomada cuando se comenzaron las obras para transformar la vaguada en un parque público, mientras todavía era un lugar silvestre en medio de las urbanizaciones por donde discurría un hilo de agua llamado Arroyo las Cárcavas.

I'm not sure about the placing of the camera but it was taken from a window of the old Columbus Hotel in 1954.

Old photo found among old family papers, date unknown.
