Itu Aba Island has satellite communication systems, radar equipment, etc., but still lacks modern transportation installations such as an airport and docks. The sea near the island is shallow in many places, but once you leave the reef, the depth immediately goes down to one thousand meters or even lower. The military situation is very complicated, and the island is far from Taiwan. As a result, when developing the island military defense installations and the consolidation of sovereignty have been of great importance. Since the end of World War Two, the ROC navy has guarded the island for over fifty years; they have a major responsibility to ensure the security of the South China Sea. Itu Aba Island must be staunchly defended as the most important ROC base in the region. More needs to be done to develop the island. Itu Aba should be opened up to tourism, and more work done on environmental preservation, in the same way as Malaysia has succeeded in developing Swallow Reef. After careful evaluation of the possibilities, a nature reserve should be established there to make Itu Aba Island stand out among the islands of the South China Sea.

Amazing, is this from a boat or from land? I have never been there but if ever I am there would love to see this and photograph it too.

Your night shots should be in a book on Sydney for sure.
