Dennis Dimitrakopoul…'s conversations

Shipping off Akra Tropaia.

Kinosoura Peninsula.

'At present, the Atheneans have possession of the island, however, in earlier times there was a strife between them and the Megarians. Some say that it was Peisistratos, others Solon, who inserted in the Catalogue of the Ships, after these verses of the epic: "Aias brought twelve ships from Salamis", the following: "and bringing them, placed them where the battalions of the Athenians were stationed". To which the Megarians answered in parody: "Aias brought ships from Salamis, from Polichne, Aegeirussa, Nisaia and Tripodes, which are Megarian villages; Tripodes being called Tripodiskion, where the present marketpalce of Megara is located.' From Strabo's Geography. Book 9:1(10).
