There were three duty stations while I was in the Air Force back in the 70s, that no one ever requested, and worried about getting sent to. Shemya (now Eareckson Air Station) in the Aleutian Islands, Incirlik Turkey, and Thule Greenland. I was lucky to have escaped assignments to any of them. The popular joke about Shemya was that there was a woman behind every tree. Just find any trees. Looks like Thule was about the same. I did request Reykjavik Iceland but never got it. Always have wished to visit Iceland.
