Thank you very much tiotiak@gmail.com. Do you or have you lived on Fanning Island Kiribati? We would love to go back there, but we understand that the cruise ship we went on was to be the last cruise ship to go there. We went with Norwegian cruise line on the "Pride of Aloha".
Never thought to look up in the trees for the crabs. We did see one in a hole they made in the ground. We were amazed as they make a hole in the ground for a home just like the gophers do in our Alberta, Canada. This island was such an amazing adventure for me and my husband. It opened our eyes to a lot of things, especially to see how happy these people seemed to be living in the environment they live in compared to our lives.
The plant growth on the island is so amazing!! Is this on the north east corner of Fanning island where no one lives? The trees seem to grow right out of the rocks. We visited the south side of the island where some of the people lived when on the Pride of Aloha in April 2008 with Norwegian cruise lines. An amazing adventure!!
bragh's conversations
Our favorite part of the trip, as well. Wish we could go back again.

This is one of the "tender boats" from our ship carrying guests to and from Fanning Island to tour the island!
This is a "crab hole" on Fanning Island. I live in Canada in the prairie provinces, Alberta and Saskatchewan, and we have "gopher holes".
