lived on Orien Circle on the afb in early 70s. was sad to hear that the base had closed but it is even sadder to see what happened to the houses. i remember the fire at the commissary when we lived there

Thank you so much for posting these photos of of the housing area on Griffiss AFB - actually lived there in the late 60's.
Kind of a shame - as I remember the place was always so well kept - both by the base personnel and of course those of us that lived there.
Also remember the LONG walks to the bowling alley!

I lived in this neiborhood back in the early 70's when my dad was stationed here. This is a picture of Vega Dr. The house I lived in is in this picture. You can see three house on the left side of the street, I lived in the one in the center. The one that is the same color as the first one on the right in this pic, which is where friends of mine lived at the time.
