'Calling an assembly, he (Lysander) advised the Athenians to elect thirty men in order to head the government and to administer all the common affairs of the city. When Theramenes talked back reading the conditions of the peace, that they should employ the government of their ancestors, and saying that it is terrible to be deprived of freedom despite the oaths, Lysander said that the conditions were abolished by the Athenians, since, the walls were demolished after the agreed upon days. And he directed to Theramenes the greatest of the threats, that he would kill him if he did not stop opposing the Lacedaemonians. Consequently, Theramenes and the people shaken were compelled to abolish the democracy by raising the hands. And thirty men were elected to govern the common affairs of the city, harmosts in word but tyrants in deed. The people, observing the fair disposition of Theramenes and believing that his honourable stance would reduce the greediness of the leaders, elected him one of the thirty leaders. It was duty of the elected to appoint a parliament and other magistrates and to draw up laws according to which they would be governed. The drawing of the legislation was postponed, finding constantly fine pretenses while they established the parliament and other magistrates from their own friends, that were called archons but being servants of the thirty.' The sea and wind erosion has destroyed more than 10 meters in the last 20 years. Most of the plants and trees standing on the cliff have disappeared. It is a sad. Unfortunately it is not the only place in the west Peloponnese with the specific problem. Hopefully people will react before it is too late.
Allantopilis The prophesies are admirable. However, I am amazed that how I can govern the people.
House servant1. This is the lowest deed. Keep doing what you are doing. Stir up and turn into a sausage all the affairs and turn the public to your side sweetening them with gourmet deintinesses. Everything else about you is demagogical: repulsive voice, low-birth and with market morals. You 'va got everything needed for a political career. Plus the oracles and Delphic Appolo succour. So put on the garland and pour a libation to Koalemon, so that defend the man. From Aristophanes' Knights.
