Thomas Henneman's conversations

Thanks Corey, I've always been fond of this image - it was taken right at sunrise, facing west - the sky is really cool! As you no doubt know, this was taken not all that far from Madison - I was on my way to Franklin Creek Natural Area, which I think is about the coolest place in Northern Illinois (I'm from Eau Claire, WI and there's not much in Illinois worth looking at). Check it out if you get a chance, preferably on a weekday (it can be pretty busy on a nice weekend day). I did a spherical pano there a couple of years ago, you can see it here: https://www.360cities.net/image/franklin-creek-usa

I figured that was your intent. I would have shot and shot and shot at this. Restraint appears to be on your side because I would probably then increased the contrast to the breaking point. Who says B&W has to have shades of grey? Anyway, as I said, restraint is on your side - I would likely have ruined it, then been disappointed with it.

Thanks for the comment - amazingly, this is a hand held shot at 1/60 of a sec., looking straight up - I was surprised at the sharpness myself.

General view is that the Command Hdqtrs. was waiting for Lt. Benteen to arrive. This hilltop can be seen for about 1 mile. With rifle fire with black powder smoke rising probably 1 mile plus. Not sure if Custer was killed here or his body taken to the hill by his officers and brothers. I am a Custer nut - been there 20 times. The first time in 1951.

very nice voted greetings from Turkey.

The Hennemann (AKA "Old Tilden", "Abandoned County Trunk Q", or "Emmanual Evangelical") Cemetery is located on land given to the church by Phillip Wilhelm (William) Hennemann in about 1864. Burials from that time until about 1891. The church disbanded or split up in the mid 1890's and is long gone.

Photo taken early summer 2007. Too bad the cupala was not lit up (future project)!

This photo, taken in late summer 2006, shows (believe it or not) and unusually lush growth for the Sandia Foothills due to a summer of above average rain.

Superb nightshot
