Memorial at Holtaheia.
This memorial was erected after a planecrash in august 1961. A total of 39 people, 34 boys from Lanfranc Boys´ School in Croydon, London UK, two teachers and a crew of 3 were killed. A Vickers V1 Viking crashed into the mountain in fog and bad weather when trying to land at Sola Airport Stavanger. The cause of the accident waS probably pilot error as a result of misnavigation.
The actual site of impact can still be seen as a lighter color of the rocks below the memorial.
