Winsor White's conversations

Hello, We here in Western Ohio have one (1) trout stream near us, The Mad River that is part of a confluence of streams that all eventually end at the Great Miami River. I grimace at 'Great' in that it is the smallest of any huge river I've seen. It meanders down to the Ohio then it eventually goes to the Mississippi. Though it has been 8 yrs. since your post, i'm wondering why no comments. Me being the first, let me say thank you and great pics. Kinda hard to go wrong on mountains, but that southern view from the ranch is really good as well Eldorado Canyon. I've never seen that respective.

nice angle to shoot the scene. cheers

William Henry Dickens, an original St. Vrain Valley pioneer, was highly successful in farming and numerous business ventures, and by 1898 was the biggest taxpayer in Boulder County. He was murdered in his home by an unknown assailant in 1915, a sensational, widely covered news story.

Dickens built the Opera House in 1881, with the theater on the second floor and the first floor housing his bank. The Opera House was the most widely used community center in Longmont for many years. Social and cultural life revolved around it, including dances, concerts, vaudeville and minstrel shows, plays, and sporting events such as boxing and wrestling.

The Dickens Opera House is one of the few theaters from this period left in Colorado. It has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places since July 28, 1987.

This hotel was built in 1880-81 in the elegant Victorian "Italianate" style by wealthy miner George Zweck. From it's inception, the Imperial was one of the hubs of Longmont's social scene.

In 1894, it became the property of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Allen, who managed it for many years. In 1971, the hotel was purchased and remodeled into apartments and small shops.

There are a lot of dreams buried in that motorcycle graveyard.

Longmont Sugar Mill 1903-1977

Longmont Great Western Sugar Mill was in operation from 1903-1977. The mill processed sugar beets grown in the area and was a major employer in the community. Some of the silos are still in use.
