View of Western Riverside Development site from across River Avon, Bath.
The development occupies the former Stothert & Pitt Engineering site.
From Sainsbury's Green Park, to Windsor Bridge Road.
Hello - I am a Bristolian and I agree with D.M Wilmot [Comment #1] This is a bridge on the Camerton Branch as it became under GWR auspices. If one went back to Midford and looked at photos there one would see the old S & D. J. R crossing this branch line on the Midford Viaduct. The Camerton branch here is also on a bridge underneath the old S & D viaduct crossing a stream or an old canal. There is also a minor road mixed up in the bridges. Enjoy the history, Regards from Phil Hicks, Leura. NSW. Australia.
This is actually on the line that linked Limpley Stoke with Camerton and was predominately built on the bed of the Somerset Coal Canal that it superceded. It's also the railway used to make the Ealing comedy "The Ttifield Thunderbolt" in the early 1950's. The line having closed in 1951. All track being finally removed by 1958.
