Ii's about a charity event that my son and I are taking part in this summer.
It is a 10 000 mile drive from London to Ulanbataar Mongolia in a car under 1000cc and costing less than £500.
Once we leave Hyde Park on 19th July we are completely on our own with no backup whatsoever. Each car has to raise £1000 for one of the rally's official charities and get sponsorship towards their expenses. Our car will be auctioned in Mongolia with the proceeds going to local charities.
Last year the event was featured on TV when Jack Osborne took part and there is a lot of YouTube footage of previous attempts.
We are asking companies to pay or donate resources or useful items to have their company logo on our car.
As we are driving through numerous countries sponsors would get maximum exposure and advertising.
We plan to have features in the local papers, local radio and TV here featuring our SEAT Marbella which would also give any company that is kind enough to donate good advertising opportunities for minimum outlay.
Although we are hoping this will be an amazing experience the main objective is to raise as much money as possible for charity but the expenses for competitors are fairly hefty having to obtain numerous visa's, buying the car and spares, ferry crossings, bribes and general costs of accommodation, fuel etc whilst finding our way 10000 miles through remote at times treacherous terrains and then finding the cost of our flights home.
