Izzy P's conversations

this was a while ago now, but wondering if you remember having any trouble accessing the area? From which direction did you come?

Beautiful photo! Like & Fav.

Greetings, Dmitry

Thanks Izzy! After receiving your comment I checked out your photos and see we definitely have similar interests. If you will start a Grenzologist group in Panoramio, I’ll be your first member! To your comment about open borders: I’ll agree that is the Schengen rules that allow for unchecked crossings between member countries. However, there are only 16 countries that have actually signed the agreement, the latest being Switzerland in 2008. The Schengen rules were incorporated into the EU constitution in 1999. Prior to becoming full EU members, Hungary and Slovenia were not Schengen states and it was admittance into the EU that gave them defacto Schengen status. I’ve been to the town of Schengen and posted a photo of a plaque explaining the origins of the agreement. Cheers from the USA!

To Graham White and Peterbnz: As I stated on my previous post, most people call this spot, at the confluence of New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland as "Cameron's Corner". It is not. All three state Geographic Names Authorities officially call this place "Cameron Corner". I won't comment on what they do in Sheep Shagging land.

Any idea what formed that odd bowl at the top? (see my photos)

I would like to use this image on a school resource about static electricity (and lightning) available to schools in WA. Can you contact me at spice@uwa.edu.au to discuss further? Michael

Hi Izzy,

So what was the time when you took this Izzy? I guess GMT will have to do, especially it was in summer! But seriously I am interested in the time lapse for this image. Do you recall?

Regards, Ian

Dear Izzy,

In amongst your interesting collection of geographical anomalies or oddities, this storm image caught my attention. I like it for it expresses the character of southern Australia so well.

Ian

Thanks Izzy. One of the reasons I visited the area was simply because of the unique political position. However when I uploaded the Google Earth Image identified it automatically as Booderee National Park, NSW. (See image on right) So I thought I was the one who lost the plot a bit. Glad to be redirected and to have your note draw attention of other viewers to this.

Thanks,

Ian

Nice pics of a nice locality but Booderee NP is definitely NOT IN NEW SOUTH WALES ! It is and has been part of the JERVIS BAY TERRITORY ("JBT") since 1915. Different laws, different politicians even different number plates from NSW.

I wish people would understand this wonderful geographical and geopolitical anomaly !
