Lindvig....your pictures of Longwood Gardens brought back pleasent memories. My friend and I visited the gardens on a few occasions when I was staying with her in Philadelphia a few years ago. If memory serves me right, the house and grounds were once the home of the du Pont family. Greetings to you from the Isle of Man.
It amazes me that these beautiful stone bank barns in PA were built by farmers, clearing the stones out of their fields - and not built by trained stone masons!
aka Hagley Museum; Birkenhead Powder Mill, which is water powered. Museum is in an old woolen mill (above). It contains a primitive Swedish direct drive mill; working model of Oliver Evans mill; grist mill interior and numerous other displays.
I stand corrected. Yes, this picture of this Japanese Maple is actually at Winterthur, DE not at Longwood Gardens, PA. However, you have the name "Longwood Gardens" (in Pennsylvania) by the picture, it needs to be changed to "Winterthur" (in Delaware).

We had a 2 1/2 foot snowfall February 6th, 2010. Then the skies cleared, and the sunset was glorious.
