OK, so this confirms what I've heard about your national animal ! Actually, a few years back there were Kangaroos even in our town by the german border, but now they are no more here... I don't know why... maybe didn't they survive our winters (I remember those poor creatures freezing in the snow, asking myself if no one cares for them...)

The SMC (Small Magellanic cloud) and the LMC (Large Magellanic cloud) are two little irregular galaxies that orbit our own galaxy, the milky way. Both SMC and LMC are very close to the celestial south pole, in other words, they can only be seen from the southern hemisphere, or from near equator northern latitudes.
On your picture, the LMC is that blue blurry cloud above the K of your logo, while the SMC is the other cloud, located above and a bit right from it.
If you're interested in Astronomy, you can download the free (actually even open source) virtual Planetarium called Stellarium. A very handy tool for the amateur astronomer (and Brisbane is one of the presets provided with the software, so you'll just have to set it as your default location... and have your own planetarium on your computer !)

This photo was shot towards the north, I have never done a startrail towards the north but i think it is quite a cool effect. It was taken over 4 hours
