I have performed several times in this gem of a theatre. I presented three original murder mysteries I wrote and starred in an original show written and directed by Sue Sutton, entitled, "Pleasant Hill."
Back in the 1960's my friends and I would play in and on top of this. Back in those days it wasn't fenced off. I believe they had deer in this area when the zoo was going. RH
The historic Masonic Temple Building owned by the Retzler Development Group, LLC. It is being lovingly restored by Paul Warshauer and others. It will house artist lofts, the Lodge Dinner Theatre and Sky Club Bar. Call (308) 384-6816 for information.
Great view looking South-East. The marquee of the historic Portage park Theatre can be seen. The theatre is again open through the efforts of local activists, businessmen and theatre lovers like Dennis, Paul, and gracious landlord, Bob Levin.
The Ellendale Hotel (aka: The Nodak Hotel and Cafe, and the Dickey Hotel) is being lovingly restored by Paul Warshauer, Peggy Gilbert, Jeff Langley, and Loren Margolese.
I began my career in Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre in Klamath Falls in the fall of 1991 at Classicos Italian Ristorante. This was a photo of one of my last shows in Oregon.
We visited this site on Memorial Day, 2008. There is a cool 10 foot monument indicating the spot where the Center of the Continental US is purported to be. That marker is across the street from this sign. Also a quaint 6 seat chapel and picnic table are in the small triangle shaped park. A long closed scary hotel sits behind the small park. It is easy to get to: US 281 and KS 119. Nice place for a picnic and quiet reflection as you are in the Center of the "American Universe!"

We also like the fact that another historic building across the street can be seen in the glass. Thank you.

Paul Warshauer stands in front of the New Regal Theatre in Chicago, IL. It was formerly the Avalon Theatre a magnificent atmospheric movie palace.
