Sadly correct prb - this gem was reduced to rubble in April 2010 and the empty site awaits commercial redevelopment, ie yet more riverside flats. Photos recording this act of local government vandalism are at www.kenthistoryforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=1929.75

The rotting hulks of old working lighters which lie abandoned on the foreshore are uncovered at low water, while modern high density housing advances behind the new flood defences to the right.

This 200 ton monster at Blue Boar wharf is the only surviving reminder of the past industry which once filled the area north of Rochester station. It will eventually be surrounded by high density housing when the area is redeveloped as Rochester Riverside.

In just a few places the river Darent runs wide and shallow and may be easily crossed by wading. Here, the anglo-saxon Aegen's ford gives today's village its name.
