You're right, the Grand Gendarme is the third peak on the right. Climbing Weisshorn using North ridge is one of the most exhausting climb I've ever done in my life, maybe more than Matterhorn by Lion ridge because you have to climb Bishorn first and the same when back.

I took the photo in mid-July 2007 and it never rained and snowed when I walked. It must be a drier year then 2008. The photos on your homepage are really nice - funny thing that the Kurt Shafer bridge was still broken-down on your trip one year ago.

Dear Oliver, "Bizim böyle bir yerimiz olsa ya. Ne güzel bir yerdir bu barınak yav. Bir haftasonu burda kalmanın gecesi ne kadar acaba :P" Means,

I wish that we have mountain refuges like this great panoroma. Solvay Hutte Refuge so beatiful point. How much one n weekend cost? :P

In my picture they are local men. I don't know what they are hunting but very hospitable.

Thanks for all.

it was in Dec. ´1989 on a trip with two trucks from Austria to Tansania. It was years before the war(s) in Zaire and even the genocid in Ruanda. I envy you very much having climbed the Ruwenzori already, thats still one of my life aims to do so as well.

Some people have been lucky enough to see the mountain with sun and blue sky..., I was not among them in August 2008. Looking at the photo, the mountain seems more spectacular than from Bujuku side. www.olidomidum.fr
