初めて行くようなところで自転車がパンクするのはこわいね。でもまさかこんなお決まりの画鋲に刺されるなんて思わなかったんだ。店があるとうれしいけどケチだから自分で修理するね。
It is scared that the bicycle blows out in the place in which it goes for the first time. I never thought that it was stung by such a stereotyped thumbtack. It is glad when there is a shop, but I repair by myself because i am stingy.
最も効率よく道を作ろうとするとそれは直線となる。しかし数々のやむを得ない事情により、たとえば土地が狭く起伏の多いこの日本の都市部では、長くまっすぐな道はあまり見かけられない。そのような中で、こうした「水道道」は、丘があろうが川があろうが道が横切ろうが、周囲の地割を全く無視してひたすらまっすぐ貫いている。道路としてはひ弱でたどたどしいが、障害を乗り越え健気にもまっすぐ貫いている姿に、とても感銘を受けるわけである。（もっともこのような計画が実現したことについては、無視すべきでない背景もあるわけだが。）
If roads are most efficiently made, it becomes a straight line. However, for instance by a lot of unavoidable circumstances, a long, straight road is not so seen in here Japan where land is narrow and undulating. Anyway, these "Water service road" is carried out single-mindedly straight - though there is a river though there is a hill though crossed by the road - completely disregarding the shape of surrounding land. As the road, it is weedy and halting, but it surmounts an obstacle and bravely carries it out straight. I am impressed with this stance a lot. (However, for the achievement of such a plan, there is a background that should not be disregarded, too. )

The name of this tunnel is said "daibutsu-zuidou", and exists in Fueda 6, Kamakura City. このトンネルは「大仏ずい道」といい、鎌倉市笛田6丁目にあります。たぶん藤沢側。(2003.05)
