Sorry to hear this... but as you said, it's still a nice trip out there :-) yes, some part of the hike is not for everybody, we almost turned back once... but i was brave enough, or rather stupid, to continue :-) it's probably nothing for someone with experience and proper gear... but definitely a great deal to most of us.
