pmcelveen's conversations

I remember back in the very early 1990's when I got up for school in the morning I used to watch the bridge go up and back down...I'm 31 now and for some reason the memory has stuck in my head over the years like an image from an old dream.

Thank you for posting this.

This is TOO funny! If you look at the house on the far left, we were staying there when this picture was taken. This must've been in 2007?!

A view from the river of the Dockside Restaurant, a really good place to eat!!!!

I grew up there in Beaufort, and I remember crossing that bridge as a child to go out to Hunting Island Beaches. Also remember that @$#&*% bridge getting stuck open due to mechanical failure, or being struck by boat or barge traffic. It would tie you up for hours, back then it was the only bridge on or off Lady's Island. I also vaugely remember crossing an old wooden bridge, before this one was put in. I've asked my older sister, and she is surprised that I can remember it, being I was so young.

I have a lot more photos, and are coming soon. That piece of metal got moved a few years ago. But your grandfather had it right, I still go through bridge where the metal used to be.
