This area is more remote and less developed than the Queen Charlotte Sound that can be seen while driving from Picton to Havelock. The only accessible to this area and walkway is by boat. It is not part of the Queen Charlotte track which can be accessed in many places from Kenepuru Road.

Only accesable by boat the is a great place for a picnic lunch where you can have all the beach for you and your friends

This tree is in part of the Marlborough Sounds Maritime Park, one off the first areas in New Zealand to be placed in a reserve. The area offers a number of very old Podocarps, of which the Rimu is one that evolved over 130 million years ago. Much of this more remote area has not been milled with many trees over 1000 years old.

Rata in Fairy Bay this area is known for its red flowers rata. Most flower late March to April. this photo was taken April 10

This old rata flowers in November early December. ( photo was taken Dec18 ) Although there is eighteen different types of rata, red white and yellow flowers, most red flowering rata in this area flower in late March Early April.

Campervan Parking. Ohingaroa Bay. Campervans can stay up to two knights only, provided they are self contained as there is no Toilets or water. A great stop over place for people wishing to enjoy the peace and stunning scenery of the Sounds. Continue on and you find a number of camping sights and a full range of accommodation.
