Grid reference SS868321

From Wikipedia:

The Tarr Steps is a prehistoric clapper bridge across the River Barle in Exmoor, Somerset, England.

A typical clapper bridge construction, the bridge dates to c.1000 BC. The stone slabs weigh up to 5 tons apiece. According to local legend, they were placed by the devil to win a bet.

Lake Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan. Stunningly clear, clean water and always warm, even in winter due to its thermal sources. The lake is very deep and so wide the far shore is rarely visible.

The drive along the wild south shore is impressive and the mountains behind are amazing. This is an unspoiled country just waiting for the tourists.

Please, don't let it be ruined by commercialism - its wonderful, charming and hospitable people don't deserve that fate, and its natural beauty needs to be safeguarded now - before it is lost forever under concrete and tarmac.
