I worked on this station as a young architect in NYC. I am now a middle-aged architect in Seattle (!!) and I was wondering if you'd mind if I downloaded a copy of your excellent photo for documenting my work.
My website is www.anjaligrant.com, feel free to send me a note.
Thanks so much!
All of the anchor stores (Macy's, Target, JCPenney) are still open, with their mall entrances sealed off. So they're definitely still alive and well, and very much accessible.
tkon04, thanks for your comment. All remnants of the old Carlin Springs resort are gone. I believe that Glencarlyn community members circa one hundred years ago decided to erect protective structures and markers for the historic springs, including this one. Yes, this and a historical marker are the only remaining landmarks. Cheers, Steve aka Invasives Man
I'll keep an eye out and see if anyone puts up decorations this year. At least I can confirm that someone is taking care of the statue. By total coincidence, just this morning I was reading an old Gazette from October and saw this article about work by the United Daughters of the Confederacy: http://www.connectionnewspapers.com/news/2012/oct/11/appomattox-gets-makeover/. Did you decorate it for them? Maybe they found someone to take your place. Or maybe you need to come visit.

Definitely very neat HVAC layout design.
