I couldn't figure out how to map my photos when I first joined Panoramio, too. You have to click on your photo, click the link 'Map this photo', type in this nearest place name (in this case Cochrane, AB). Then you use the arrows on the navigation control to find the correct place and you take the red pin and click on the exact spot where the photo was taken. Hopefully, then your photo should be mapped and it should appear in the Panoramio 'Popular' world map section and Google Earth in a few weeks.
