I worked at Bill Quay for many years and while the angle is wrong I could see a very similar view of the cranes from my office window. We have a print, from a watercolour, by a local artist hanging on our lounge wall. The cranes have many happy memories. Thanks for your comment.

Thanks to all you keen eyed spotters. I've got this one wrong. I will have to go back through my diary and work out where it is.

Great photo! I lived in Anglesey before moving to Spain. I have been trying to upload my photographs onto google earth from various locations but over a month has gone by and they are not on the map, but they have been viewed. I have contacted the inventors of google earth but have had no reply, can you advise please, thanks. Teena Burton burtonteena@yahoo.co.uk

The Green Man was designed by Colin Spofforth from a commission by Barratt and Redrow Homes. It is based on the mythological ‘Green Man’ representing nature and countryside. He stands at the northern entrance to Buckshaw village close to Central Avenue.

This picture was taken in February 2007 towards the end of the restoration works by Maysand.

The hall was erected in 1509 on the land granted to the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem by Roger De Lacy. Purchased in 1534 by Sir Henry Farington his son William.
