Hi Bob,
As a matter of interest I looked in the Newspaper Archive and noticed that the Walsall Anarchist Plot was mentioned several times in the birmingham Daily post from January 1892 for many months.
On Jan 30 1892 Deakin was charged at Walsall but in the above biography it says..."on his way to the anarchist Autonomie Club in Fitzrovia, by Inspector Melville of the Special Branch and charged with having been unlawfully in the possession of a cigar-box containing a bottle of white fluid, and not being able to give a satisfactory account of how he had obtained it. The fluid was chloroform."
Apparently this charge could not be made outside the metropolis, and it was usually made against receivers of stolen goods. He was acquitted of this charge, but he had been lured into a confession by the London Detective.
All the best Peter

A fine picture of one of only two listed structures in Brownhills - the other being the Aqueduct carrying the Anglesey Branch over the same line.
Welcome to Panoramio.

Hi Bob
In the last few days there have been some beautiful skies, I have noticed them but not been able to picture them. This one needs no alteration!
Thanks Peter

Hi Bob
This path is in the Estate of Himley Hall, and i had been further up a couple of weeks before, when the descent seemed very slippery. Much easier going up, and a fantastic tree!
The Estate was probably designed by Capability Brown, and the Hall, gateways and ice house are all listed buildings. Just before the tree I came across this bridge through which you can see a glimpse of the Hall, strangely not listed.

Hi Bob
Great picture of how it really is in the frosty winter.
I also looked at the picture here by willcolumbine it makes an interesting contrast.

Hi Bob
Looking at this picture set me thinking. The number of barges that have travelled this way over the years, if they made the same journey today they would have been quite taken aback by what confronted them.
And if you enlarge you can make out that the guy on the bridge is smoking a fag. What would they make of not being able to smoke in a public place!
All the best Peter
