Himukilan island in the distance
visited the village here 2005 from Tahud
I AM VERY PROUD TO BE A BACONGANON, A PLACE WHERE THE OLDEST CHURCH IN NEGROS ORIENTAL IS LOCATED WITH THE UNIQUENESS OF THE VERY OLD/ANTIQUE BAMBOO OR PIPE ORGAN..THE UNVEILING OF SUCH WILL BE HELD ON THE 28TH OF OCTOBER, 2009. WE DO HOPE AND HEARTILY SUGGEST THAT THE WHOLE DAY AFFAIR AND CELEBRATION WILL BE FULLY COVERED BY THE MEDIA AND BE PUBLISHED AS WELL..MORE POWER TO THE BACONGANONS AND THE MINISTRY OF TOURISM, ARTS AND HERITAGE FOR THE PATRONAGE..WE REALLY DO APPRECIATE FOR THE UPCOMING GRAND AND BIG CELEBRATION IN HONOR OF THE PIPE ORGAN..IT'S SUCH A MARVELOUS SUCCESS FOR THE BACONGANONS IN GENERAL!!!!GOOD LUCK AND MORE POWER TO ALL ....VIVA SR. SAN AGUSTINE de HIPPO!!!!!GOD BLESS OUR TOWN ALWAYS...
Wow, this is beautiful! My home is Mapuyo Kawayan Leyte. Does anyone care to share some pictures from this part of the province? I have not been there since 1990. I would love to see more pictures of where my family comes from. Anyone care to share? I would appreciate it.

The island is officially named Calumpihan and is a part of Capoocan, Leyte. Recently people have been calling it Sapatos island because it is shaped like a shoe when viewed from Carigara side. I know because the island is mine. Thanks Mgsr Pantin for your picture.
