In 1955 Warner Brothers chose Marfa as the location for the filming of the epic movie Giant. In June of that year the cast and crew including James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson made the hotel their headquarters.
Builded at the same time that the stadium (by slave workers), its construction was disimulated. It could support hundreds of people up to six months without need of going to the surface. Stalin visited it just once, for less than one day.
